OUR STORY:
RE-CONNECTING TIMELINES BACK TO NATURE THROUGH HISTORY
Welcome to our historical apothecary, a dream fueled by my passion for the past. A dedication to history and natural healing shaped my journey from childhood experiments with Victorian recipes to learning about plants with my grandmother. Life’s twists led me here, blending my passions to connect people and bring them together to share their stories of yesteryear. Join me as we explore the wisdom of the past in our modern lives.

Expanded Story Below:
My passion for history was always very tactile. I loved antiques, writing in journals by candlelight, and anything that would bring me closer to being able to feel and experience bits and pieces of the past. As a kid, I started working on recipes, making my dad a Victorian dill. I enjoyed walks with my grandmother because she showed me specific plants and discussed their historical healing properties. But I never pictured owning the first historical apothecary. Instead, I thought I would become an archaeologist, teacher, or museum curator. Years passed, and I did a bit of everything, including professional theater and bespoke historical sewing. But as fate would have it, life took an unexpected turn. I found myself in the middle of a divorce and on the verge of being homeless. Life Changed.

Eventually, after meeting someone in the same boat, we saved enough money to better our situation and get a tiny apartment. One day, I was contemplating my future, and I decided to take a nap. In a dream, my ancestors came to me and told me I was to build the first-ever historical apothecary, and they would help me. They were very specific that not only would it help and heal many, but it would bring to the forefront lost knowledge and herbal healing modalities that had been buried and forgotten. They promised that I had purposely built up experiences in this field from many past lives. Now was the time to change the world. And so I did.

I had the dream in 2010, and here we are today! Since beginning this adventure, we have had the privilege of having our products in countless movies, television shows, museums, on the stage, and more.

MEET ALICIA
OWNER & PROPRIETRESS
Alicia’s mission is to bring ancient knowledge of natural and herbal remedies to modern audiences in a way that is accessible and understandable. She strives to uncover hidden recipes and reproduce them, making this knowledge and healing abilities available to the world through her products. She inspires and educates others, just like her grandmother did for her.
She lives with her partner and their two apothecary cats in Wisconsin. They love traveling the world, perusing antiques and junk shops, and looking for lost information. Before the Historical Apothecary, Alicia self-published a few sewing and drafting manuals to more accurately facilitate and recreate modern historical garments. Currently, she is branching out and writing a novel rooted not in the historical apothecary but in other lost ancient wisdom.
She has been studying the ancient and historical art of compounding natural and herbal ingredients and their uses throughout history for over 35 years. She has degrees in history, museum work, anthropology, and archaeology. She enjoys teaching classes and giving lectures on historical beauty and apothecaries throughout history. Before the apothecary, she had her own bespoke historical clothing business and worked in the museum world. She still collaborates with museums for her work and has an extensive collection of original apothecary and beauty products, along with other artifacts, archives, and manuscripts. Her work can be seen in many museums around the world.
